Frequently Asked Questions: Interlocking Plank Panels
Decorative Interior interlocking paneling is the modern alternative to tiling and has been hugely popular in Europe for years. The panels are ofter referred as 'interlocking' as they all have a tongue and groove fitting, similar to the old style wooden tongue and groove paneling. All panels are double ply with a "honeycomb" profile. Interlocking panels are lightweight and easy to fit.
The panels are designed for covering internal walls or ceilings in any room in the home or commercial space, but they are specifically conceived for wet environments such as bathrooms, showers, kitchens or utility rooms. They are all waterproof, meaning that they can even be used in shower cubicles.
Yes. All of our panels can be used on ceilings, although some designs look better than others. Ceiling panels can be run in either direction. You should consider both directions as one way is likely to need less material than the other.
No, our panels are designed for use on walls and ceilings only.
The panels are made of extruded PVC, also known as vinyl, which is a rigid material with a degree of flexibility. The panels are of a hollow honeycomb construction, and are finished with a printing process to produce the range of colors and styles.

Insulating: our panels are insulating as well (R-value 2.25), which is an advantage when PVC panels are used in garages, basements or similar locations

Yes, the panels are entirely waterproof, while the joints are designed to be watertight; we recommend small droplets of sealant between the tongue and groove during installation in areas such as power showers.
Everyday wear and tear will not affect our panels, however they can be damaged by sharp objects, or the pattern can be removed by rough objects
Our panels are designed to be installed by the DIY'er. You need very little experience - please see our installation guide.
Yes, as long as the existing surface is well secured. Paneling may be applied to drywall or directly to wall studs. Please note that the panels are 3/16'to 3/8' thick so please consider how this thickness will affect any bathroom fittings such as taps, valves, handles etc.
Waterproof wall paneling is preferred over the ceramic bathroom tiles because it does not use grout. This means that the whole wall surface can be wiped clean, without having to resort to bleach, grout-cleaners or regrouting. Moreover, waterproof wall paneling is easy to install and once up, will continue to look good for years with no maintenance at all.
Although you may be able to find some cheap tiles that cost less per square feet than panels, the overall cost of the panel project is likely to lower. This is mainly due to the reduced cost of installation. Whether you are employing a fitter, or doing it yourself, you will save money. Once installed, there is no grout to go dirty and maintenance is a thing of the past.
No, if your tiles are stuck well to the wall they are an ideal flat surface to stick your panels to. Pls. use special adhesive designed to adhere to ceramic tiles. Please consider how thickness of the panel might affect any bathroom fittings such as taps, valves, handles etc.
Unlike tiles, the decorative panels are very easy to remove and replace with an alternate design or color, making redecorating a much easier project.
